How Botox Is Priced — And Why "Units" Matter

At Eden, Botox starts at $11 per unit. But the per-unit price is only half the answer — what actually determines your cost is how many units your face needs. Botox is sold by the unit, not by the syringe, the visit, or the wrinkle. Two clinics can quote very different "per-area" prices and be giving you very different amounts of product.

The one question that protects you: "How many units am I getting?" Ask it every time, at every clinic. If a place quotes a flat price per area, ask how many units are in that area, then divide — that's your real cost per unit, and it's the only honest way to compare two clinics. We tell you your unit count every single time, before we inject.

What that means in real numbers at our $11-per-unit starting rate: frown lines (the "11s") typically take 20 units — about $220. Forehead lines, always treated together with the 11s, another 20 units — about $220. Crow's feet run 24 units across both sides — about $264. A lip flip is 4 to 6 units — about $44 to $66. A chemical brow lift is 2 to 5 units — about $22 to $55. And jaw slimming or TMJ relief (masseter) takes far more than the upper face — 40 to 80 units, about $440 to $880. Fair warning: the masseter number surprises people, and we'd rather you hear it from us before you're in the chair. These are starting estimates based on FDA-approved and typical doses — your dose is set at your consultation, by the person injecting you.

One more thing nobody tells you: units don't transfer between brands. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau are all neurotoxins, but their units are not the same and can't be converted between products — Botox's own FDA prescribing information says so. Dysport, for example, is typically dosed at roughly 2.5 to 3 times the unit count of Botox for a comparable effect. If you're price-shopping, compare the total for your treatment, not the per-unit sticker.

That matters more than the brand of toxin in the vial. Botox is a prescription medication with real risks and a real learning curve. The difference between a result that looks like a good night's sleep and one that looks like you can't move your face isn't the product — it's the dose, the placement, and whether the person holding the needle has seen your kind of face before.

And we'll tell you no. If you come in for Botox and what you actually need is filler, a laser, better skincare, or nothing at all — we'll say so. We build plans, not just sell treatments. Sometimes the plan is "not yet."

Botox for Men

Men are a growing share of the patients we treat, and they almost always want the same thing: to look less tired, without anyone knowing why. You'll need more product than she does — men typically have denser muscle in the forehead and between the brows, often 30 to 40 units where a woman needs 20. That's anatomy, and anyone quoting the same dose regardless of sex isn't paying attention. The goal is different too: a softened brow, not a smooth one, with movement preserved. Fifteen minutes, no downtime, back to work the same afternoon — and nobody has to know.

Preventative Botox — Does It Actually Work?

Sort of, and the honest answer is more useful than the marketing one. Lines start as dynamic — they appear only when you move. Over years of the same expression they etch in and become static: visible even at rest. Relaxing the muscle before that happens can slow the etching. But preventative Botox isn't a reason to start at 22. If you have no dynamic lines yet, there's nothing to prevent, and starting early is an ongoing cost, not a savings. Our rule of thumb: if you can see the line when your face is still — or a dynamic line lingers after you stop the expression — that's the moment to have the conversation. If you come in and don't need it, we'll tell you to come back in a couple of years.

Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau — Which One?

They all do the same core job: relax the muscle. They are not interchangeable, and their units are not comparable. Botox is the original and the most studied — the default for most patients. Xeomin is the "naked" neurotoxin with no complexing proteins, worth considering if you've developed resistance to Botox over time. Jeuveau is the newest on the U.S. market, made specifically for cosmetic use. Dysport spreads a little more — an advantage across a broad forehead, a disadvantage in precise areas. We offer Xeomin and Jeuveau at Eden too — which one you get should be a decision, not a default, and we'll talk it through at your consult.
